Our 'Super Bowl Party'

As you probably know, (American) football and the Super Bowl don't mean anything to most people in Chile, but to Jimmy it definitely still does, especially since the 49ers are playing in it this year!!  We had a little get together today and were able to enjoy some BBQ'd meat (a treat since we don't have a barbeque at our apartment) and time with new friends - we're calling it our Super Bowl Party, and afterward the guys all went to a place that is showing the game live.

Our complex has an area called the 'quincho' that is in the corner of the backyard, a sort of secluded area that has two open grills and some tables and chairs to sit at.  We rented the area for the afternoon for our little fiesta, and invited our neighbors Matt, Jessica, their baby Evan, and Hernan and Jorge, two of Jimmy's Chilean coworkers.  It was a hot day, but fun to be outside with new friends, and still have all the space a play areas of the 'backyard' we always play in at our disposal.  We finished our barbeque with a dip in the pool to cool down.  (Boy am I missing those Delta breezes as I'm sitting typing this!)

Jimmy's big smile comes in part because he was so happy to be out barbecuing, and part because he spilled about half the bag of salt that in his hand right as I was about to take the picture. Oops...!

The little guy in the middle is Evan (9 months)

Perfectly content...

(The bar across the middle has a handle on the left that raises or lowers the grill to adjust temp)

Our poor kids were having far more fun that you can tell by this picture!  This was right before we ate, so they were hot and hungry...

From left to right, Matt, Pablo, Jimmy, and Hernan.

The tomato salad on the right is a typical "ensalada chilena", or Chilean Salad - peeled sliced tomatoes, onion, olive oil, and a little bit of cilantro. The two sauces in the bowls are typical here two.  Have to check with Jimmy on their names though...

An amazing sunset visible from our 20th floor (out the windows of two sleeping kids....) :)

And now, for the outcome of the game....????
