Dinner at Guillermo and Alejandra's

On Wednesday night we were excited to be invited to dinner at the home of Guillermo and Alejandra.  Guillermo is the owner of the office where Jimmy is working from while we're here.  He and his wife are a wonderful, friendly, down to earth couple with five kids!  (Tried and tried for a girl, and they ended up with four boys and finally a little girl - 18, 16.5, 15, 12, and 9 years old).  They picked us up from our apartment after work, and we headed to their home in La Dehesa, which is another area of town further toward the outskirts of the city.  It was significantly cooler there (which was nice for us!), probably 88 instead of 95 where we live.

Their kids are older now, but they still have a big bin full of toys that they pulled out for Caleb and Landon to play with in the backyard.  The boys were elated!  All kinds of trucks, motorcycles,  Ken dolls and action figure dolls to play with on the motorcycles and in the trucks.  The youngest, Elisa, and the 12-yr-old Benjamin had a lot of fun running around and playing with both Caleb and Landon the whole time we were there.

I didn't get any good pictures of Guillermo and his family, but I think we will be going to their house again, so will try to get a few next time.  For now, here are a few of the kids and Jimmy having fun...

Playing ball with Elisa

They have a beautiful outdoor patio...

...and a kitchen they just finished remodeling 6 days ago!

Not the best picture of Elisa and Benjamin, but these are their two youngest kids.
A beautiful grill and oven (on right) that were part of the remodel

Also not a great picture of Guillermo or Alejandra, but here they are.  We ate outside here since the kitchen eating area isn't quite finished yet.

Guillermo and Alejandra actually wanted to send the entire bin (about 3 feet long - huge) of toys home with us to borrow, but we thanked them and said we would let Caleb choose a few to take with us.  He only wanted these four.  C & L are both having so much fun playing with them.

On the drive back into town I realized that this was the first time I have been out of our house after dark!  We were actually able to see some stars from their house, too, since there aren't as many city lights to interfere.  The only one I could recognize was Orion...

G & A actually lived in the U.S. (Philly and Seattle) for a total of three years, so they could relate to living in abroad, and with kids, as their first two were born there.  Such a nice evening and super nice people that we really enjoyed getting to know.  Added bonus:  They loaned us Guillermo's car for the weekend so we can go somewhere!  We are hoping to drive to the beach for the day tomorrow with Matt, Jessica and Evan.... And it will be nice to get in a couple of errands with a car, too!
