Day 3 in Chile

On Saturday night, Jimmy managed to find what seemed to be the only place in town showing the 49ers game, which he was SO excited about.  He very much enjoyed the outcome...and grateful next week's game starts at an earlier hour.

It turned out to be a really fun afternoon, going to Parque Araucano again to pass some time until Kidzania opened in the afternoon.  We didn't know anything about what Kidzania was before going inside yesterday, but it turned out to be a super cool place for kids to play.  The feel of it was that of a mini Disneyland with all of the city buildings, vehicles and street lights in miniature size.  It's basically a mini-theme park that teaches kids about different professions in a fun and interactive manner... role-plays in all sorts of businesses, with brief explanations about each profession and plenty of opportunities for hands-on learning.  Caleb really enjoyed it, and for kids that are 5 and up, it would be even more fun.  I wish we had stuff like this at home!  It was equally exhausting for us and the kids, trying to keep up with both of them, take pictures, take videos, keep an eye on our stroller, and try to stay out of other peoples' way.  I think it has cured me of my desire to attempt Disneyland before the boys are at least 4 years old!!

You have to exchange a voucher for your Kidzania money at the bank so that you are able to play - some require you to pay, others pay you for the 'work' you do.

Here is the supermarket - if you are the group that is shopping, you pay to buy the groceries, then the next group of kids gets paid to be the employees and restock the shelves with the items the first group put into the baskets.

Caleb got to play grocery store employee and got 'paid' to put all the items back.
<Video: Caleb the Grocer>:  (This one is long, but I couldn't figure out how to get the cropped version into my YouTube upload... Sorry.. The better parts are from 2:45 sec till the end.  Figure that the grandparents will appreciate length the most :))

Listening to a brief explanation about what fire fighters do (in Spanish, but Caleb was listening intently)...

Then after their exercise training to get them in shape, they got to put on the coats and helmets

... of course that was his favorite part!

... then all the new fire fighters (bomberos) got to go for a ride on the mini fire truck!

A bedroom completely made out of inflated items and a floor like a bounce house

Another area had the rooms of a house... this was the bath tub full of plastic balls to swim in.

Another room of the 'house' - kid sized kitchen
We will be returning to spend our Kidzania dollars again soon, and in another month or so hopefully Landon will be a bit more sturdy with his walking and be able to participate a bit more!  There was also an exhibit under construction that has a Hotel building on fire and the kids get to use a hose to try to put out the fire - hoping that one will be up again next time because Caleb would love it!

Here is the website if you want to see more (text is in Spanish...):  http://www.kidzania.cl/

...And into reality we go tomorrow when Jimmy starts work and its my first day alone with the kids here.   Lets pray it goes well!

We are certainly enjoying the 88 degree weather here!  So strange though to have been in 48 degree weather just a few days ago.  We are doing pretty well getting situated, just trying to get the kids on new schedules, catch them up on a bit of sleep from the long trip, and learning how to do life in a big city with babies!  It is challenging, but we are figuring things out quickly.
